Alsace-Lorraine France

Alsace-Lorraine, AL sas loh RAYNE, is a region in northeastern France, on the French German border. Switzerland lies to the south, and Luxembourg to the north. The region's outline looks like a figure "7". Alsace, is the north-south arm, with districts of Haut-Rhin and Bas-Rhin. Lorraine forms the east-west arm. It is divided into the departments of Moselle, Meurthe-et-Moselle, Meuse, and Vosges. I found from the census records that Peter C. entered his place of residence as Lorraine France as a farmer. This is where we begin our search into the past, our roots that bring us into the 21st Century. I wanted to note this area, because it is beautiful, and explains why so many Collignons also are located in Belgium and Luxembourg.
